A meeting in the memory of the First President of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba took place in Tkuarchal. Residents of the hero town gathered in D. Gulia’s Palace of Culture. They commemorated the memory of the prominent statesman, the patriot of the Motherland, the Hero of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba by a minute of silence.
Those who spoke at the meeting- the head of Tkuarchal district administration Timur Gogua, the District Assembly head Aida Chachkhalia and many others- said about the irreplaceable loss our country and the people had suffered. Everybody mentioned Vladislav Grigorievich's great role in the Victory in the 1992-1993 Patriotic War of the Abkhaz nation.
“Vladislav Ardzinba – a true son of Apsny - will remain in the people’s memory forever. His name will be put down in gold letters in the history of Abkhazia”, the meeting participant said.
Mourning has been declared for March 7, 8, 9 in Abkhazia. The National flags have been lowered all over the republic; all entertainments and festive events have been cancelled.
The First President of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba will be buried on February 9. Under Ardzinba’s will, he will be buried on the memorial to the fighters of the Gumistine front in the village of Eshera of the Sukhum district.
